pdfTRAWL DISCARD LOGBOOK INSTRUCTIONS
This logbook is for recording of discard on IFQ trips.
Data collected in this logbook will be matched to the state logbooks where retained data and location information is provided.
Instructions:
•
Fill in trip level information (Vessel name and Departure and Return date, port and time)
•
Fill in W-O-C Trawl Logbook Page number (bottom left)
• If a new page is started in the W-O-C Trawl Logbook, start a new page in this discard logbook.
•
Fill in Date (month and day) and time of each trawl set
•
Include codend capacity for each haul
•
Keep haul order consistent with haul order recorded in the W-O-C Trawl Logbook
•
Report all IFQ species discards.
•
Report IFQ species, at minimum, at the sorting level required by regulations.
• All IFQ species specific codes are provided on the “Individual Species Codes” if reporting at the species level is possible.
• Example: If Aurora rockfish is discarded and it is not mixed with other minor slope rockfish species, report the discard
with code ‘ARRA’, otherwise, report the discard with code ‘USLP’
•
Report discard amounts in pounds for all discards. Space is available to report counts of individual fish if a count is available.
•
Report all retained priority species .
