Brief Summary. IMLS recognizes that communities across the country are suffering at
unprecedented levels and that swift response is paramount. We know that museums and
libraries are in need, but just as importantly, as recognized sources of trusted information and as
safe places, they are key to recovery strategies as communities struggle to create a new postCOVID reality. Our grant program will strengthen the institutional capacity of museums, libraries,
and related organizations to respond to community needs quickly, effectively, efficiently, and
responsibly, and it will increase their ability to deliver programs and services that contribute to
the well-being of families, groups, and individuals of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Because the need is great and swift response is paramount, we respectfully ask for an expedited
clearance so we can distribute funds in a timely manner.
Thank you for your consideration.
