Chief Economist
U.S. Department of Commerce
Bureau of Economic Analysis
Washington, DC 20233
Dear Dr. Fixler and Ms. Burrell,
Thank you for the letter of support and sharing the specific uses the Bureau of Economic
Analysis (BEA) has for the economic data from the Agricultural Resource Management Survey
(ARMS). NASS evaluates our programs on a regular basis to see what changes can be made to
improve and strengthen our data in order to better serve the needs of our data users. As described
in the Federal Register Notice, NASS is creating a new Information Collection Request (ICR)
submission that will divide the current OMB approval into three smaller ICRs. When approved
by OMB the ARMS 3 surveys will be assigned a new OMB Control Number, but the surveys
and publications will remain relatively the same as in the past. The ARMS 1 and ARMS 2
surveys in this filing contribute to the effectiveness of the ARMS 3 surveys used by BEA.
In 2025, data collection for the ARMS 3 surveys will overlap with the data collections for the
Census of Agriculture and the Tenure, Ownership, and Transition of Agricultural Land (TOTAL)
Survey, respectively. The ARMS 3 data collected will be coordinated with this mandatory
survey.
We will keep you informed of any future modifications through Federal Register Notices.
Again, many thanks!
Sincerely,
JOSEPH
PARSONS
