The purpose of this information
collection is to require foreign federal governments to complete
Foreign Meat Inspection Certificates to help guard against the
introduction of animal diseases of ovine and bovine not currently
present or prevalent in the United States.
US Code:
7 USC
8301 Name of Law: The Animal Health Protection Act
This request for renewal is for
27,929 estimated responses and 18,514 estimated burden hours,
reflecting an increases of 8,471 estimated responses and 8,470
burden from the previous renewal request. Adjustments are due to
the increase in the total number of imports of beef and ovine meet
from all three countries. This is due in part to a rebound in
import of beef from Uruguay as well as more accurate accounting for
overall numbers due to APHIS’ use of the Automated Commercial
Environment (ACE) to receive, track, and process required
information for animal product imports. Numbers for identification
and testing of select lambs have held steady as this is a set
program.
