IRB determined that this project is exempt from IRB review for the following reason:
The activity is human subjects research, but is Exempt.
The only involvement of human subjects will be in one of the following categories:
NOTE: For all research involving prisoners and some research involving children, exemption is
prohibited under 45 CFR 46. For research with children, exemption (b)(2) does not apply except for
observations of public behaviors when the investigators do not participate in the activities observed –
it does not apply for research involving interviews or survey procedures with children.
Exempt Category 2 - Research involving only educational tests, surveys, interviews, observation of
public behavior. (45 CFR 46.104.2)
