2024 Jason's Law Truck Parking Survey – Private Truck Stop Owners and Operators

TO: NATSO Members: Your immediate assistance is requested to support a survey of truck parking issues that the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) is required to perform under Jason’s Law MAP-21 §1401(c) (Jason’s Law). Jason’s Law states that, “not later than 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary, in consultation with relevant State motor carrier safety personnel, shall conduct a survey of each State-- (A) to evaluate the capability of the State to provide adequate parking and rest facilities for commercial motor vehicles engaged in interstate transportation; (B) to assess the volume of commercial motor vehicle traffic in the State; and (C) to develop a system of metrics to measure the adequacy of commercial motor vehicle parking facilities in the State. (2) Results.--The results of the survey under paragraph (1) shall be made available to the public on the website of the Department of Transportation. (3) The Secretary shall periodically update the survey under this subsection.” This is an update to the survey that was conducted in 2019. To update the evaluation of the capability of the states to provide adequate parking and rest facilities for commercial motor vehicles engaged in interstate transportation FHWA has developed a truck parking survey for you to complete regarding truck parking at your facilities.
