In accordance with§ 989.60(c) of Marketing Order No. 989 (Order), the Raisin Administrative Committee (RAC) may designate such raisins as it deems appropriate for production, processing and marketing research and development. The maximum period is five (5) years and the maximum tonnage is 500 tons, unless extended and/or increased by the Secretary of Agriculture upon a recommendation by the RAC. If in any year the volume of the tonnage applied for exceeds the maximum limit, the exemption is void and all such tonnage is subject to the rules of the Order.

The making of any false statement or representations in any matter within the jurisdiction of any agency of the United States, knowing it to be false, is a violation of title 18, section 1001 of the United States Code, which provides for a penalty of a fine or imprisonment of not more than five years, or both.


According to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, an agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a valid OMB control number. The valid OMB control number for this information collection is 0581-0178. The time required to complete this information collection is estimated to average 5 minutes per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information.
