Subject:  NCHS Protocol #2024-01 The National Health and Nutrition Examination Study (NHANES) 2025-2026

Protocol # 2024-01 The National Health and Nutrition Examination Study (NHANES) is classified as Public Health Surveillance per NCHS Human Subjects Contact determination of March 11, 2024. As such, it is excluded from the purview of 45 CFR 46.

On April 17, May 8, May 15, and June 24, the convened NCHS Research ERB reviewed the request for approval of new Protocol #2024-01 National Health and Nutrition Examination Study (NHANES) using NCHS’ Practices and Procedures for the Protection of Human Subjects in Primary Data Collection Excluded from or Exempt under the Common Rule.

This protocol is approved from today’s date until  December 31, 2027.

Any problems of a serious nature should be brought to the attention of the ERB, and any additional proposed changes should be submitted for ERB approval before they are implemented.
