Cover Page
The Salmon River Basin (the Basin) contains a unique combination of natural resources, including recreation opportunities, timber, minerals, range, wildlife, water, and wilderness. The goal of this study, sponsored by the United States Geological Survey, is to understand how residents of and visitors to the Basin use and value its natural resources.
Understanding the diversity of people’s values has is importance as multiple national-scale industries (i.e., outdoor recreation, agriculture, mining, etc.) exist in the Basin. The Basin is also home to people, wildlife, and vegetation important in the landscape. Knowing more about what Basin residents and visitors value helps federal and state agencies plan for the future by taking public opinion into account.
Please take this opportunity to share your opinions about natural resources in the Salmon River Basin by completing this survey. All the responses to this survey are confidential. Anonymized survey results will be used by the U.S. Geological Survey for potential use in future studies.
Your involvement is voluntary, and you may choose not to participate. The average time to complete the survey, including using maps of the Salmon River Basin, takes about 10-15 minutes. To ensure the usefulness of the survey please complete it in full, though you can choose to discontinue participation at any time without penalty.
