Activity for Which Permit is
Requested: Waste Management. The
applicant seeks an ACA permit for
waste management activities in
association with the use of a Remotely
Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) in
Antarctica to be used to conduct
archaeological surveys. RPAS would
only be flown by experienced pilots in
fair weather conditions and any flights
within Antarctic Specially Protected
Areas (ASPA) would occur under a
permit and according to the
management plan for each ASPA. No
overflight of wildlife would occur, and
no flights would occur within 930 m of
wildlife. Additionally, the RPAS would
not be flown higher than 120 m above
ground level. A number of mitigation
measures would be in place to prevent
loss of the RPAS.

submitted a request for renewal of an
existing collection of information to the
Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) for review. The information
collection is entitled, ‘‘Requests to
Agreement States and Non-Agreement
States for Information.’’

date will be considered if it is practical
to do so, but the Commission is able to

II. Background
Under the provisions of the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44
U.S.C. Chapter 35), the NRC recently
submitted a request for renewal of an
existing collection of information to
OMB for review entitled, ‘‘Requests to
Agreement States and Non-Agreement
States for Information.’’ The NRC hereby
informs potential respondents that an
agency may not conduct or sponsor, and
that a person is not required to respond
to, a collection of information unless it
displays a currently valid OMB control
number.
The NRC published a Federal
Register notice with a 60-day comment
period on this information collection on
June 13, 2024, 89 FR 50380.

10. Abstract: The NRC is requesting
OMB approval of a plan for a generic
collection of information. The need and

practicality of the collection can be
evaluated, but the details of the specific
individual collections will not be
known until a later time. The
Agreement States and non-Agreement
States will be asked on a one-time or as
needed basis to respond to a specific
incident, to gather information on
licensing and inspection practices or
other technical information, or to
provide comments on proposed policy
and program updates. The results of
such information requests, which are
authorized under section 274(b) of the
Atomic Energy Act, will be utilized in
part by the NRC in preparing responses
to Congressional inquiries. In addition,
the information can assist the
Commission in its considerations and
decisions involving Atomic Energy Act
materials programs in an effort to make
the national nuclear materials program
more uniform and consistent.
