Appendix A – Research Team Questions in the SAP Portal

This appendix describes the SAP application questions for research team members in the SAP Portal.

The SAP Application includes sections for each of three separate project team roles:

PI/Lead Researcher/Co-Principal Investigator/Researcher* [text box, max characters allowed: 200]

• Name of principal investigator or lead researcher.

• Name of Co-Principal Investigator(s) (if applicable)

• Name of Researcher(s) (list each researcher, if applicable)

For each Individual listed on the application, the information below is collected:

Institutional Affiliation* [text box, max characters allowed: 200]

• Name of employer or affiliate.

Title* [drop down]

• Primary position type.

Email* [text box, max characters allowed: 200]

• Email address. Once the application is submitted, this address will receive all communications about the application and the individual with this address will be the primary person to act upon the application using his/her account.

Phone Number* [text box, max characters allowed: 15]

• Phone number.

ORCID Identifier [text box, max characters allowed: 16]

• Enter the unique 16-digit ORCID ID number below. To learn more about ORCID IDs, or to register for a unique ORCID identifier, please visit this page https://orcid.org/.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)/Resume [upload]

• Please [upload] a CV or resume, including employment history, research experience, publications and/or presentations. PDF and .docx files are accepted.

Note: This question only appears for applications for BEA, BJS, BTS, FRB, and NCHS.

Citizenship* [yes/no]

• Is this person a U.S. citizen?

Special Sworn Status* [yes/no/not sure]

• Does this person have active special sworn status (SSS) with the U.S. Census Bureau?

Data Access* [yes/no]

• Will this person access the data listed under “Data Requested” in the sidebar of this application? Note: Some options may require follow-up with the data provider.

  • Select Yes if this person will be accessing data or will have access to undisclosed output, which is output that has not undergone any disclosure review.

  • Select No if this person will not access data and/or undisclosed output and is only supporting the research project in ways that involve access to information that has been cleared for disclosure.

Note: At least one researcher will need data access for the data requested. “No” cannot be selected for every researcher.
