TITLE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION: Cybersecurity Career Week Commitments

PURPOSE:  
The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s NICE Program focuses on advancing cybersecurity education and workforce. The first objective in NICE’s Strategic Plan is to “Identify and share effective practices for promoting cybersecurity career awareness and discovery to diverse stakeholders.” To achieve this objective, NICE coordinates the annual Cybersecurity Career Week during the third week of October to promote the discovery of cybersecurity careers and share resources that increase understanding of multiple learning pathways and credentials that lead to careers. During the week, academia, industry, non-profit organizations, and government help to build awareness about the wide range of cybersecurity job opportunities, educate interested individuals on how to develop capabilities to qualify for cybersecurity roles, and showcase how building an international cybersecurity workforce enhances national security and promotes economic prosperity.

NIST seeks to highlight the aforementioned community-led activities by providing a “Commitment Portal” (collection instrument) that will allow the public to voluntarily share their efforts. By providing this resource, those interested in learning about cybersecurity careers will have a single, central location to find information instead of having to visit multiple different websites to learn about activities. A central resource also helps grow traction and participation.

The information gathered in this collection will be populated into publicly accessible list on nist.gov/nice on an on-going, annual basis. Submitted information is reviewed for accuracy, but otherwise is not analyzed or changed prior to publishing. NIST will begin collecting information as early as Spring of each year. Information will be cleared each December to be able to start fresh in the next year. 

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONDENTS: 
Respondents will consist of those from government, industry, academic, and non-profit organizations who are interested in cybersecurity awareness, education, training, or workforce development. Registrants may hold a variety of roles, to include: students, educators, trainers, human resources personnel, hiring managers, job seekers, and more. 

The NICE Program Office will utilize their various mailing lists, social media, and communities (working groups, communities of interest, etc) to spread the word about Cybersecurity Career Week and encourage members of the public to participate.
