Instructions, Progress Reporting, Independent Living and Respite Surveys (91 FR 38408, Docket No.
CNCS-2026-0232, OMB Control Number 3045-0035)
Dear Ms. Corindo,
As a Director of an AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion Program, I am submitting my comments
regarding the Progress Report Supplement (PRS) and the Independent Living and Respite Surveys.
The PRS is recognized as a source of duplicative and unnecessary administrative burden for grantees, as it
is for ACS staff to review. I am happy to see that this revision would eliminate the Supplement and fold
some of its relevant questions directly into the Project Progress Report (PPR). Consolidating reporting
into a single report will reduce the time my staff and I spend on data entry and will allow us more time for
volunteer recruitment, placement, and program delivery.
I also recognize the importance of the SCP Independent Living and Respite Surveys, in measuring the
outcomes of our volunteers’ service to their clients regarding social ties and social support. I am aware

that this notice does not propose any changes to these surveys, and I ask AmeriCorps Seniors to use this
time as an opportunity to revisit them. I feel that a shorter, more realistic survey is more apt to increase
the clients’ and caregivers’ responses to complete the surveys. Many of the current survey questions do
not represent the services that our volunteers are providing.
I am grateful for the opportunity to submit comments and appreciate that AmeriCorps Seniors leadership’s
continuing efforts to reduce administrative burden on AmeriCorps Seniors grantees where appropriate.
Sparking service,
Laura Kinder, Program Director Senior Companion Program
