c. Describe the purpose of this DoD information system or electronic collection and describe the types of personal information about individuals
collected in the system.
Defense Retiree and Annuitant Pay System - Modernization (DRAS-M) maintains pay and personnel information for use in the computation of military retired pay,
survivor annuity pay, and to make payments to retirees, spouses, former spouses and other dependents. DRAS-M contains PII mostly related to the military
service of recipients, their relationships to retired military service members, and personal information to facilitate payments. The following Privacy data elements
are stored or processed: Birth Date, Child Information, Citizenship, Disability Information, DoD ID Number, Financial Information, Sex, Law Enforcement
Information, Legal Status, Mailing/Home Address, Marital Status, Medical Information, Military records, Name(s), Personal E-mail Address, Place of Birth,
Position/Title, Protected Health Information, Rank/Grade, Social Security Number (SSN) (Full or in any form). Other: Other information collected court-ordered
or legal document information such as garnishment amount, case number, date of marriage or divorce.

Privacy Act Statements appear on all forms used to collect the information from retirees, annuitants, and other eligible payees or authorized payee
representatives. When collecting PII via telephone the caller is advised as part of the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) script that they are accessing a
DoD application and that the call may be monitored. When receiving information via web-site electronic form submission, a privacy policy advisory is included.
