OMB 3137-0122

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funded the Building a National Network of Museums and Libraries for School Readiness Project (SRP), which will be led by Boston Children’s Museum (BCM). This grant builds off of BCM’s previous work in implementing the IMLS-funded School Readiness through Partnerships model in in Massachusetts, and piloting the model in two new states: South Carolina and Virginia. BCM has expanded IMLS-funded School Readiness through Partnerships model which addresses persistent gaps in early childhood education and school readiness. The goal of Building a National Network of Museums and Libraries for School Readiness Project (SRP) is to amplify the strength of organizations serving children and families by forming networks between and across these organizations. In doing so, this project seeks to support children in all regions, regardless of socio-economic or linguistic background, to have the skills needed to enter school prepared for success. This SRP is strongly aligned with the IMLS goal to build capacity for museums and libraries to improve the well-being of their communities, and will engage three more states, and institutions within each state, in establishing networks nationwide that harness the power of museums and libraries to support school readiness.
