This information collection is intended to support the development and implementation of a new IMLS grantmaking program in response to the National Museum of the American Latino Act (NMALA). The research represents a new data collection request, and the data to be collected are not available elsewhere. The data collection activities are planned for June 2023 through July 2023. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has contracted with the Urban Institute (Urban) to conduct research and planning for this new grant program, which will aim to build the capacity of American Latino museums and education organizations to promote the study and appreciation of Latino life, art, history, culture, and their impact on society in the United States. This program was authorized for creation by the National Museum of the American Latino Act, Public Law 116-260. This proposed research is intended to help ensure that the grant program’s structure is designed to maximize its relevance to the field, its accessibility to stakeholders, and the ability for IMLS to understand the outcomes of this grant program.
