Abstract: STATISTICS SUGGEST A LEVELING OFF OR EVEN A DECLINE IN THE INCIDENCE OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS (HBV) INFECTION. BUT DESPITE ROUTINE SCREENING FOR HEPATITIS B ANTIGEN, AND THE APPARENT DECLINE IN HEPATITIS B CASES, HBV INFECTION REMAINS A SERIOUS THREAT TO THE CONVALESCENCE OF THOSE WHO HAVE RECEIVED BLOOD OR BLOOD PRODUCTS.
