Abstract: THE INFORMATION COLLECTED IS USED TO CONSTRUCT THE EMPLOYMENT COST INDEX (ECI) MEASURES THE TRUE CHANGE IN WAGES AND TOTAL COMPENSATION. IT THE BEST SERIES ABAILABLE TOUSE IN EVALUATING MACRO-ECONOMIC POLICY ON WAGES. IT IS FREQUENTLY USED WHEN EVALUATING FOR WAGE CHANGES. THERE IS A SMALL INCREASE IN THE RESPONDENT BURDEN IN FY 1981 TO COVER THE EXPANSION INTO THE GOVERNMENTS SECTOR.
