Abstract: FRA NEEDS THE INFORMATION TO CARRY OUT EFFECTIVELY ITS REGULATORY RESPONSIBILITIES UNDER THE FEDERAL RAILROAD SAFETY ACT OF 1970 AND ACCIDENT REPORTS ACT, AS AMENDED. INFORMATION RECEIVED IS USED TO PROVIDE A BASIS FOR (1) CONDUCTING RESEARCH, (2)ESTABLISHING SAFETY STANDARDS AND RULES, AND (3) DEVELOPING FRA COMPLIANCE INSPECTION PROCEDURES.
