TITLE 5, U.S.C., SECTION 8341(A)(3)(C)
PROVIDES SURVIVOR BENEFITS TO CHILDREN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 AND
22 IF THEY ARE UNMARRIED FULL-TIME STUDENTS. THIS FORM IS SENT TO
CHILDREN WHO WILL REACH THE AGE OF 18 IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER. IT
IS SENT IN MAY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THOSE CHILDREN WHO ARE MARRIED OR
DO NOT PLAN TO GO TO SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER. THIS GIVES OPM ENOUGH
LEAD TIME TO DROP THEM FROM THE ROLE IN A TIMELY MANNER AND NOT
OVERPAY THEM
