Abstract: UNDER SECTION 304 (A) OF THE FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT, AMENDED 1977, THE AGENCY IS REQUIRED TO REGULATE THE DISCHARG OF POLLUTANTS INTO THE NATION'S WATERS. ANY PLANT WHICH DISCHARGES WASTEWATER IS REQUIRED TO HOLD A PERMIT WHICH LIMITS THE AMOUNT OF CHEMICALS WHICH MAY BE PRESENT IN DISCHARGED WASTEWATER. IN ORDER FOR BOTH INDUSTRY AND EPA TO MONITOR THES DISCHARGE, ANALYTICAL METHODS ARE REQUIRED FOR LABORATORY IDENTIFICATION AND QUANTITATIO
