Abstract: TITLE 33, CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS, PART 207, (26 STAT 766) REQUIRES THAT THE LOCKAGE OF VESSELS AND NAVIGATION OF CHANNELS BE PROVIDED BY VESSEL OPERATIONS. DATA IS ALSO COLLECTED ON VESSELS, PASSENGERS, FREIGHT AND TONNAGE, ACCORDING TO LAW. THE DATA ARE USED TO CONDUCT A SYSTEMS-WIDE APPROACH TO PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT OF THE WATERWAY.
