Abstract: TRADE SPECIALISTS PROMOTE THE USE OF THE U.S FLAG CARRIERS THROUGH INTERVIEWS WITH IMPORTERS, EXPORTERS, TRADE ASSICIATIONS, AND OTHER CONTROLLING THE ROUTING OF OCEAN FREIGHT. TRADE SPECIALISTS USED THE MA-740 TO RECORD INFORMATION GATHERED DURING THE INTERVIEW. THIS INFORMATION BECOMES PART OF A DATA BASE, WHICH IS USED TO PROVIDE MARKET INFORMATION TO U.S. FLAG CARRIERS. THE PROMOTION PROGRAM IS AUTHORIZED BY SEC. 212(A) AND (B) OF THE MERCHANT MARINE
