THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN SENT A TRADE
MISSION TO THE U.S. SEPT. 8-22, 1980 WITH THE PURPOSE OF EXPANDING
JAPAN'S IMPORTS OF AUTOMOTIVE PARTS FROM THE U.S. THE U.S. AND
JAPANESE GOVERNMENTS AGREED TO MONITOR JOINTLY THE RESULTS OF THE
MISSION. THE FIRST PHASE OF MONITORING IS TO BE COMPLETED BY JAN.
1981. THE U.S. COMMITMENT IS TO FOLLOW UP WIT THE 60 U.S. FIRMS
THAT MET WITH THE MISSION MEMBERS. THE PROPOSED SURVEY INSTRUMENT
IS CENTRAL TO FULFILLING THIS COMMISSION
