Abstract: FORM 5405 REFLECTS IRC SECTION 44(D). IT IS USED BY TAXPAYERS WHO TOOK A CREDIT ON THE PURCHASE OF A NEW RESIDENCE IN 1975 OR 1976 AND ARE NOW REQUIRED TO PAY BACK THE CREDIT BECAUSE THEY DISPOSED OF THE RESIDENCE WITHIN 3 YEARS. DATA IS NEEDED TO HELP VERIFY THAT THIS CREDIT HAS BEEN PAID BACK.
