12 CFR 545.9-1 REQUIRES FEDERAL
ASSOCIATIONS TO OBTAIN BANK BOARD APPROVAL PRIOR TO OPERATING A
SERVICE CORPORATION ENGAGED IN AN ACTIVITY WHICH IS NOT PREAPPROVED
BY REGULATION. THE PURPOSE OF THE SERVICE CORPORATION APPLICATION
REQUIREMENT IS TO ASSURE THAT ACTIVITIES ENGAGED IN BY FEDERAL
ASSOCIATIONS' SERVICE CORPORATIONS ARE REASONABLY RELATED TO THE
ACTIVITIES OF FEDERAL S&LS AND WILL NOT ADVERSELY AFFECT THE
SAFETY AND SOUNDNESS OF AN ASSOCIATION.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
