Abstract: ALL CLASS I RAILROADS ARE REQUIRED TO FILE FORM CBS. THIS IS USED TO COLLECT FINANCIAL DATA SHOWING CARRIER'S CURRENT ASSETS AND LIABILITIES AND EXPENDITURES FOR ADDITIONS AND BETTERMENTS. REPORTS ARE USED TO ACCESS INDUSTRY GROWTH, SUDDEN CHANGES IN CARRIER FINANCIAL STABILITY & TO IDENTIFY CHANGES AND TRENDS THAT MAY AFFECT THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM.
