Abstract: SECTION 936(A)(1) ALLOWS A DOMESTIC CORPORATION TO ELECT THE STATUS OF A POSSESIONS CORPORATION. THIS STATUS ALLOWS THE CORPORATION TO CLAIM THE SECTION 936 CREDIT (SEE FORM 5735 FOR COMPUTATION OF THIS CREDIT). FORM 5712 IS USED TO ELECT THIS STATUS. THE INFORMATION REQUESTED IS NECESSARY TO DETERMINE IF THE ELECTION SHOULD BE GRANTED.
