Abstract: THE PROPER MEASUREMENT OF NONFARM SELF-EMPLOYMENT INCOME AND THE VALUE OF THESE BUSINESSES IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE RESEARCH IN THE METHODOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSED SIPP. THIS RESEARCH INVOLVES INTERVIEWS OF PERSONS WHO HAVE OWNED OR CURRENTLY OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES TO DEVELOP ADEQUATE METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO MEASURE THESE VARIABLES IN AN INTERVIEW.
