THE SIGNAL INSPECTION ACT, 49 USC 26,
REQUIRES APPROVAL OF THE FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION FOR A
CARRIER TO MATERIALLY MODIFY OR DISCONTINUE A BLOCK SIGNAL SYSTEM,
INTERLOCKING, AUTOMATIC TRAIN STOP, TRAIN CONTROL OR CAB SIGNAL
DEVICE. TITLE 49 CFR 235 PROVIDES THE MANNER AND METHOD OF
OBTAINING APPROVAL OF THE FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION.
