Abstract: PBGC PROVIDES INSURANCE TO PREVENT OR MINIMIZE THE LOSS OF PENSION BENEFITS INCURRED BY PENSION PLAN PARTICIPANTS IN THE EVENT THEIR PLAN TERMINATES WITH INSUFFICIENT ASSETS TO COVER PENSION BENEFITS. FORM PBGC-1 IS THE VEHICLE USED TO COLLECT THE PREMIUMS THAT FINANCE THE INSURANCE PROGRAM.
