THE WATERSHED PROTECTION AND FLOOD PREVENTION ACT (PL 83-566) AUTHORIZED THE SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL HELP TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS IN PLANNING AND CARRYING OUT WATERSHED PROJECTS.
