THIS REPORT, WHICH COLLECTS
INFORMATION ON DEMAND DEPOSITS IN FIVE OWNERSHIP CATEGORIES, IS
USED BY THE FEDERAL RESERVE TO EXPLAIN THE IMPLICATIONS OF
SHORT-RUN VARIATIONS IN THE MONEY SUPPLY. SPECIFICALL THESE DATA
AID IN DETERMINING WHETHER SHIFTS IN THE MONEY SUPPLY ARE DUE TO
CHANGES IN SECTOR DISTRIBUTION OR TO BEHAVIORAL CHANGES WITHIN A
GIVEN SECTOR.
