Abstract: THE SURVEY OF PENNHURST CLIENTS' PARENTS IS BENCHMARK RESEARCH. THE CONTINUATION OF THE EFFORT WITH A SHORTENED TELEPHONE FORM WILL GREATL INCREASE UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCERNS OF PARENTS WITH MENTALLY RETARDED OFFSPRING UNDER CUSTODIAL CARE. DATA USERS INCLUDE FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, PARENTS OF DISABLED PEOPLE, AND CONCERNED SOCIAL SCIENCE PROFESSIONALS AND THEIR STUDENTS.
