Abstract: THIS IS A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO A REPORTING REGULATION UNDER ERISA RELATING TO EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLANS. THE AMENDMENT WOULD PERMIT PLAN ADMINISTRATORS TO DEFER DISTRIBUTION OF UPDATED SUMMARY PLAN DESCRIPTI TO PARTICIPANTS, AND FILING THE DOCUMENT WITH THE DOL, UNTIL FIVE YEAR AFTER THE DOCUMENT LAST WAS DISTRIBUTED. WITHOUT THE AMENDMENT, ERISA IN SOME CASES WOULD REQUIRE THE DOCUMENT TO BE DISTRIBUTED BEFORE FIVE YEARS HAD ELASPED.
