Abstract: THE CLEAN WATER ACT REQUIRES NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE SYSTEM (NPDES) PERMITTEES TO RETAIN RECORDS OF ALL MONITORING INFORMATION AND COPIES OF ALL REPORTS REQUIRED BY THE NPDES PERMIT APPLICATION FOR A PERIOD OF 3 YEARS. THIS MONITORING INFORMATION DATA IS USED BY EPA AND/OR STATE PERMITTING AUTHORITIES AS AN INFORMATION SOURCE IN NPDES PERMIT ENFORCEMENT.
