The VA Trainee
Interview Sheet (VA Form 22-8662) is conditionally approved for use
through 11/30/82. Prior to any resubmission for an extension or
revision, the VA should reassess the contents of the interview
sheet in light of the compliance/information objectives in the
statute. Some of the questions seem to lack practical utility. For
example, what is done with the information provided in questions 5
and l6E? Since the VA cannot promise confidentiality under the
disclosure provisions of Chapter 57, Section 330l, the interviewer
should state that the "VA can promise confidentiality to the
fullest extent permitted under Chapter 57, Section 3301." In
addition, the interviewer should state that "this survey is
authorized under 38 USC 1793 and your response is voluntary."
