Abstract: A SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO DETECT CLUSTERS OF GASTROINTESTINAL ILLNESS. THE CLUSTERS WILL BE INVESTIGATED BY TELEPHONE OR HOUSEHOLD SURVEY AND IF WATER IS DETERMINED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ILLNESS, A STATISTICALLY DESIGNED COMMUNITY SAMPLE WILL BE RANDOMLY SELECTED FOR AN EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY.
