Abstract: THE INFORMATION COLLECTED IS NEEDED TO INFORM THE COAST GUARD THAT DEATH OR INJURY HAS OCCURRED. THIS INFORMATION IS THEN USED BY THE COAST GUARD IN THE CONDUCT OF SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED BY 43 U.S.C. 1348.
