Abstract: SECTION 307 OF P.L. 57-253 CHANGED THE METHOD OF CREDITING POST-1976 MILITARY SERVICE FOR ANNUITANTS ELIGIBLE FOR SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS. IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THIS SECTION OF THE LAW, WE ARE SENDING OUT THIS NOTICE EXPLAINING THE NEW LAW, AND INVITING ANNUITANTS TO NOTIFY US IF THEY BELIEVE THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A REDETERMINATION. THE NOTICE ASKS TWO QUESTIONS NEEDED TO MAKE THE REDETERMINATION.
