numbers, a description of actions taken by FNS and OIG to
investigate those stores, and further information on the cost to
the federal and state government of imposing this requirement.

FNS NEEDS TO TEST THE EFFECTIVENESS OF
COLLECTING STATE RETAIL VENDOR LICENSE NUMBERS OF RETAILERS IN
IDENTIFYING FICTIOUS STORES WHICH MAY BE REDEEMING ILLEGALLY
ACQUIRED FOOD STAMPS. THE TESTWILL BE CONDUCT IN MARYLAND AND THE
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. IF THE RESULTS ARE FAVORABL FNS MAY DECIDE TO
REQUIRE LICENSE NUMBERS NATIONWIDE.
