Abstract: 26 USC 3302 ALLOWS EMPLOYERS A CREDIT AGAINST THEIR UNEMPLOYMENT TAX FOR CONTRIBUTIONS THEY PAID INTO A STATE UNEMPLOYMENT FUND. INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE ASKS EACH STATE FOR CERTIFICATION OF PAYMENTS. WHEN THERE IS A DESCREPANCY BETWEEN EMPLOYER INFORMATION AND STATE INFO., THE SERVICE CORRESPONDS WITH THE EMPLOYER (USING NOTICE 168A) PROPOSING A TAX CHANGE, AND ASKING FOR EITHER AGREEMENT OR PROOF OF TH CREDIT CLAIMED AGAINST THE UNEMPLOYMENT TAX.
