Terms of Clearance: WE UNDERSTAND DOE HAS REPORTING TO IT ROUGHLY 60 GOCO'S, 4000 CONTRACTORS, AND 40,000 SUBCONTRACTORS, AND THAT DOE HAD PREVIOUSLY PLANNED TO SUBMIT COMPREHENSIVE CLEARANCE REQUESTS BY 12/31/83. DOE HAS NOW REQUESTED A BLANKET PROVISIONAL CLEARANCE THROUGH 12/31/83, DURING WHICH TIME DOE WILL CONDUCT A COMPREHENSIVE INTERNAL REVIEW AND ANALYSIS OF ALL THESE REQUIREMENTS, AND SUBMIT THEM FOR OMB CLEARANCE. A SCHEDULE IS TO BE FORWARDED TO OMB IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE BURDEN ASSOCIATED WITH UNCLEARED REPORTING AND RECORDKEEPING REQUIREMENTS IS TO BE DETERMINED AS PART OF THE COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW. *** CLEARANCE IS GRANTED THROUGH 12/31/83, WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT DOE PLANS TO DEVELOP AND SUBMIT THIS SCHEDULE AND PRELIMINARY ESTIMATES OF POSSIBLE BURDEN TO OMB BY 6/30/83, WHICH ESTIMATES MAY WELL INCREASE AS A RESUL OF THE COMPREHENSIVE INTERNAL REVIEW AND ANALYSIS. IN THE MEANWHILE, HAVE ASSIGNED A BURDEN OF 200,000 HOURS.
