Abstract: USDA NEEDS INFORMATION ON COST-EFFECTIVE METHODS TO REDUCE COSTLY PAYMENT ERRORS IN THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM, WHICH ARE ESTIMATED TO BE $1 BILLION ANNUALLY. THE EVALUATION WILL IDENTIFY SUCH METHODS AND REPORT FINDINGS IN A USER-BOOKLET DESIGNED TO HELP STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS DEVISE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS.
