Approval is for
one year only because this and other information collection
requirements of the NPDES regulations need to be consolidated and
reviewed jointly upon publication of the NPRM revising the NPDES
regulations which is planned for mid-1984. A single OMB control
number will be issued at that time instead of the multiplicity of
control numbers currently in existence for the NPDES program.

A PERMIT APPLICANT MUST INDICATE TO
THE PERMIT AUTHORITY WHETHER ITS FACILITY IS A "NEW SOURCE" AS
DEFINED IN THE CLEAN WATER ACT. THE RESPONDENT PROVIDES
CONSTRUCTION DATES AND EXPLAINS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE NEW
FACILITY AND ITS EXISTING FACILITIES. THE PERMIT AUTHORITY USES THE
INFORMATION TO DETERMINE WHICH EFFLUENT STANDARDS APPLY TO THAT
PARTICULAR PERMIT.
