Abstract: SSEL PROVIDES: (1) A STANDARD BASIS FOR ASSIGNING INDUSTRIAL CLASSIFICATION CODES OF ESTABLISHMENTS ENGAGED IN ALL AREAS OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITY, (2) A SINGLE UNIVERSE FOR THE SELECTION AND MAIN TENANCE OF STATISTICAL SAMPLES OF ESTABLISHMENTS, LEGAL ENTITIES, OR ENTERPRISES, AND (3) A BENCHMARK DATA BASE FROM WHICH SAMPLE ESTIMATES CAN BE DEVELOPED MORE ACCURATELY AND EFFICIENTLY.
