THE GSM-102 PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INCREASE EXPORTS OF U.S. AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES BY ENCOURAGING FINANCING OF THE COMMODITY FOR PERIODS OF UP TO THREE YEARS IN CASES WHEN FINANCING WOULD NOT OTHERWI BE AVAILABLE. THE PROGRAM HELPS REDUCE CCC INVENTORIES OF SURPLUS COMMODITIES AND THEREFORE REDUCES STORAGE EXPENSE ON COMMODITIES THAT OTHERWISE MAY HAVE BEEN TAKEN OVER UNDER DOMESTIC PRICE SUPPORT PROGRAMS.
