Abstract: TAX LAW PROVIDES SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THE TAX TREATMENT OF RESIDENT AND NONRESIDENT ALIENS. ALIENS RESIDING IN THE UNITED STATES ARE REQUESTED TO PROVIDE DETAILS OF THEIR ALIEN STATUS SO THAT THE SERVICE CAN DETERMINE WHETHER THE APPROPRIATE TAX TREATMENT HAS BEEN APPLIED.
