Abstract: UNDER THE 1977 MINE SAFETY AND HEALTH ACT, OPERATORS MUST SAMPLE MINE ATMOSPHERES USING SAMPLING EQUIPMENT APPROVED BY THE SECRETARIES OF HHS AND LABOR. NIOSH REQUIRES THE APPLICANTS TO SUBMIT A QUALITY ASSURANCE PLAN FOR CERTIFICATION UNDER 30 CFR 74. ANY CHANGES IN THE PRODUCT OR QA PLAN REQUIRE AN EXTENSION OF CERTIFICATION. THE QA PLAN ASSURES THE PRODUCTS SOLD PERFORM SAME AS THOSE EVALUATED FOR CERTIFICATION.
