Abstract: THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS REQUIRES TESTING OF CERTAIN EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS. IN LIEU OF ESTABLISHING ITS OWN TEST LAB, THE COAST GUARD ACCEPTS INDEPENDENT LABORATORIES. TO BE ACCEPTED, AN INDEPENDEN LABORATORY MUST PROVIDE INFORMATION CONCERNING ITS OWNERSHIP, EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION, AND TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS OF PERSONNEL.
